Revision

Hey Guys! I bet nobody will be reading this, but I just feel like bloooogggging away.
Basically, I should be studying for my IGCSE, but, I am distracted and thought of giving you guys advices about revision.

If you didn't start at least 1 month earlier, then all I can say is that you are pretty much, screwed. However, I'm not here to give you guys a panic attack but I'm here to help you! Yes, YOU!
Well, I as a IGSCE student of 2013 will share my experience of revision right now. I started my revision during my easter holidays, but it was near the ending because I was procrastinating.  I bet you were too or you are.

GCSE ARE NEAR! YOU BETTER STOP PROCRASTINATING!
Think about it this way, you devote your time studying for now and after you're finished, you can have the time of your life! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME RIGHT NOW THOUGH!

When I revise I make notes but I just noticed that when I was making notes, I wasn't really taking in anything. It was as if I was reading it, but only to rewrite it, so for me notes weren't useful but they are when you're going for immediate source of what you need to know for your subject. The best way of learning formulas for maths, physics and any other subject is to make , FLASH CARDS! I know they take time, you may think it's a waste of time but, I swear to you guys that it will help you ALOT! Right now i have flash cards for physics formulas, physics definition and biology definition.
You guys don't have to write them down at all. Here is the Flash card website where I downloaded them from and basically print them and cut them.

When you do past papers, do not look at the mark scheme. As easy and quick way of finishing a paper as it may seem, you're only letting yourself down because you're not learning anything or giving yourself a chance to know how capable you are. You may be VERY bad but, you will know what you're weak points are and be able to work on them. When you mark your paper by the mark scheme, take notes. The mark scheme will give ideas of how to answer question or basic notes to things you didn't know. The best website to get papers are from: xtremepapers.net/ and http://cie.org.uk.

And if you don't want to make notes here is the website where you'll find all the notes for the topics you need to know from the syllabus: https://www.acceleratedstudynotes.com

Summary of tips:

1. Be sure you have enough time. (For the ones who may be doing GCSE next year, start 2 months before!)
2. Make notes if it helps you, flash cards or concept maps and there are websites that I've linked which may help you too.
3. Study at least 6 hours a day. You may think it seems a lot but it's not. It is exactly the amount of time you spend at school but you need to do more!
4. Organise your time for each subjects. Don't leave the ones you dislike for the end, do them first so that you won't lose time getting stuck on them in the end.
5. Ask your peers or teachers if you need help. Do not be afraid to ask or else you'll just be missing a little bit of knowledge due to you're silly decision.
6. I sometimes record myself just answering each points of the syllabus so I can listen to them later.
6. Give yourself treats. I once in a while have breaks and watch movies. YES, I am a moviejunkie :D
