My reviews on the exams...

So this month is the month of death :( I have my IGCSE's on and I've given some of them already. In this post, Im just going share with you guys how it was and how I felt.

French reading:
The first question were very easy! I kind of had a difficulty with the one where you write to a friend. Then the harder question came, which weren't that bad, but the reason why I think I find some of the question difficult is because I get confused with the tenses ALOT!
Overall it was good :)

Co-ordinated Science - Alternative to practical:
For this one, I felt like didn't do as well as I could have. All the types of question I had prepared for didn't really come and the wording confused me a lot.  The chemistry questions were hard because they were written differently to how I revised and I didn't get to check my calculations in the end...  :(

ICT- theory paper:
This exam  wasn't bad and neither am I quite sure if I did good or not. The questions where they asked for points were hard, for example: What are the features of a ROM? give 4 features. I gave 2 I knew and the other two I just made it up...lol. I was able to answer all the questions, but I'm not really sure if I answered them correctly...

French Listening
For listening the first question were amazingly easy but later it became so hard :( As it came to the part where you had to write more than just a word, I struggled a lot. I couldn't understand what the person was saying because of the accent. It was very hard I feel like I didn't do that good.

French Writing
This for me was much better than the listening. The questions were easy to understand and they weren't very hard. The thing that I'm worried about is the tenses, if I've used it in a right way and if the verbs match or not. Its quite hard to see the difference sometimes so :/ But overall it was good :)

Business- paper 1
I found this okay but not that easy either. This whole paper merely focused on the government and environment. We hadn't really touched on those topics so well because it seemed unlikely to appear, yet it did :( When it came to 4 , 5 and 6 marks questions, I really struggled to put my points through. I know for most that I won't the full marks because I kept repeating myself. I really hope I did well.

Co-ordinated Science - Paper 3
This one was really hard. I was able to do the physic questions but when it came to explaining and describing, I feel like I did really bad. It's like you know the word and you know how to use it, but you can't really describe it. I hope the grade boundaries for this one will be low...

I have some exams still left, so the reviews of the other exams will be online after I give them. It would be lovely if you guys share your experiences about them and maybe give some few tips?

IGCSE ART WORK

Hey Guys!
Today I was going through my Mac and found the picture of my final artwork for my IGCSE art exam, so I decided to share it with you all. I had this exam quite a while ago around March or April, can't really remember to be honest.

My topic was stretch and I decided to look at human and the human skin. Most of my artwork were focused of female. We had 2 A2 black paper, where we were allowed to fill (meaning 4 sides). I don't have pictures of it but, my first page consisted of my title, introduction and some pieces of my grandma. Through the artwork of my grandma, I was showing the wrinkles and how the human skin stretches. On the other side, I had a few direct observations of my hand. Then on my second page I had done one copy of an artist work and my interpretation of their technique on my own work. Basically, on the last page I had my practice piece of my final piece.

I was inspired by Gustav Modigliani for my whole exam course work. This is the piece I was inspired by for my final work.

And, this is my final exam piece. I am quite satisfied with it as I feel like I've come a long way and improved a lot.

Revision

Hey Guys! I bet nobody will be reading this, but I just feel like bloooogggging away.
Basically, I should be studying for my IGCSE, but, I am distracted and thought of giving you guys advices about revision.

If you didn't start at least 1 month earlier, then all I can say is that you are pretty much, screwed. However, I'm not here to give you guys a panic attack but I'm here to help you! Yes, YOU!
Well, I as a IGSCE student of 2013 will share my experience of revision right now. I started my revision during my easter holidays, but it was near the ending because I was procrastinating.  I bet you were too or you are.

GCSE ARE NEAR! YOU BETTER STOP PROCRASTINATING!
Think about it this way, you devote your time studying for now and after you're finished, you can have the time of your life! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME RIGHT NOW THOUGH!

When I revise I make notes but I just noticed that when I was making notes, I wasn't really taking in anything. It was as if I was reading it, but only to rewrite it, so for me notes weren't useful but they are when you're going for immediate source of what you need to know for your subject. The best way of learning formulas for maths, physics and any other subject is to make , FLASH CARDS! I know they take time, you may think it's a waste of time but, I swear to you guys that it will help you ALOT! Right now i have flash cards for physics formulas, physics definition and biology definition.
You guys don't have to write them down at all. Here is the Flash card website where I downloaded them from and basically print them and cut them.

When you do past papers, do not look at the mark scheme. As easy and quick way of finishing a paper as it may seem, you're only letting yourself down because you're not learning anything or giving yourself a chance to know how capable you are. You may be VERY bad but, you will know what you're weak points are and be able to work on them. When you mark your paper by the mark scheme, take notes. The mark scheme will give ideas of how to answer question or basic notes to things you didn't know. The best website to get papers are from: xtremepapers.net/ and http://cie.org.uk.

And if you don't want to make notes here is the website where you'll find all the notes for the topics you need to know from the syllabus: https://www.acceleratedstudynotes.com

Summary of tips:

1. Be sure you have enough time. (For the ones who may be doing GCSE next year, start 2 months before!)
2. Make notes if it helps you, flash cards or concept maps and there are websites that I've linked which may help you too.
3. Study at least 6 hours a day. You may think it seems a lot but it's not. It is exactly the amount of time you spend at school but you need to do more!
4. Organise your time for each subjects. Don't leave the ones you dislike for the end, do them first so that you won't lose time getting stuck on them in the end.
5. Ask your peers or teachers if you need help. Do not be afraid to ask or else you'll just be missing a little bit of knowledge due to you're silly decision.
6. I sometimes record myself just answering each points of the syllabus so I can listen to them later.
6. Give yourself treats. I once in a while have breaks and watch movies. YES, I am a moviejunkie :D
